Aging and Oral Health

How does oral health change as you age?

The loss of teeth is not inevitable as you age. If you properly care for your teeth, they can last a lifetime. Chronic oral diseases such as decay and periodontal disease will progress without treatment as you age. Additionally, as you age, you may take medications that increase the risk of dry mouth and dental decay. Practicing good oral hygiene, having routine dental exams and treatment will prolong the life of your teeth.

What are the symptoms associated with aging and oral health?

  • Cavities.
  • Discoloration of your teeth.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Gum disease.
  • Oral Cancer.
